From Pixel RN:
Here’s an actual exchange that took place where I work:
Doctor: (not addressing anyone specific) We’re going to need an echo for this patient.
Nurse: (who is prepping the patient for a procedure, and the only other person in the room): Okay, I’ll call for one.
A few seconds later the doctor turns around and says to the same nurse, “Oh, hi. Are you here to do the echo?”
I love it! Needed a good laugh today.
I caught a bit of “Hopkins” last week on ABC. Making a point to catch it since I love that stuff, but was bored in no time when it was ‘Docs 24/7′. I’d love to see a nurse-centric show and Beth would be a great one to follow in spite of saying it would be boring.
All feels right with the world. I couldn’t even tell how long it’s been since my friend Wendy & I talked on the phone. We usually keep up pretty good back and forth with emails and messages in between getting together. I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since I was last in Toronto. Luckily we can pick up right where we left off the last conversation.
We are bound and determined to have another get together this fall, Chicago maybe since our “in between” choice is Sarnia(!). Definitely in the States so I can laugh at her dealing with American money. Her almost tipping people with 50’s still makes me laugh. I shouldn’t, Canadian Monopoly money is ridonkulous too. I may not make it to the beach like I wanted but we can get our toes in Lake Michigan’s frigid temps for a photo op.
The end came faster that we predicted for my friend & her quickie husband. It’s heartbreaking to hear some of the details though. As frustrated and confused as I was at her news, I did want her to be happy and if that was the way so be it. It’s nice to believe falling head over heels really happens.
“Decided that he needed to leave – back to Indiana – ASAP! Can’t have that in my house with my kids sucking my $$ and destroying my life.”
“None of it was true! Not one little piece of information! He lied about his family, about the entirety of his adult life…it was truly like being in a nightmare and not being able to wake up.”
She’ll be able to get an annulment pretty easily since his previous divorce wasn’t final until 3 days after they married – another bizarre drop.
Ugh.
“I am assuming none of you ever have waded through Pine-Sol on a linoleum floor but it is similar to lubing your feet with Olive Oil and walking down an incline of Windexed mirrors.”
It’s so nice to know I’m not alone in household accidents. I came across Michelle’s blog and laughed so hard. Not only is she a Relayer but funny too, what more could you ask for.
Here’s my thoughts on the day. Yes, theywill be boring but I’d say a little less boring than my workday.
I’d really love to stop cleaning up puke. I tell Mimi, I’ll give her something to puke about by letting her clean it up the next time. She just meows and starts licking her fur to work on a new hairball for tomorrow. I’ve run out of cleaner so I may be cleaning awhile tonight to make up for it. The puke piles are on hold.
I’ve become one of those concerned citizens. Or just really annoyed by construction barrels. I sat on the phone forever to get answers about the Hilegas road closing that’s making me crazy everyday. Bad news – another month. No one could tell me why and the person they finally figured out could wasn’t in. Technically I know why, I don’t want anyone falling to their bloody death either, but I want to know why it takes 6 weeks to replace a piece of steel. Surely they have temporary fixes for these things in the mean time.
I feel naked. I’m not, don’t be alarmed for my coworkers. There are two things I can’t go without – mascara and toe nail polish. I am clothed from the waist up in mascara but I’ve got bare toes until I decide what to do with them. Perhaps a rotation of aqua, pink, and green to incorporate the wedding flowers in too. Just kidding just kidding. I will say they won’t be my favorite polish color since I opened the bottle last night to a gunky mess.
I felt my heart swell a little as Braiden raised his hand and added a (very good one I might add) suggestion for next year’s Relay at the wrap up. He’s such a good boy [at times].
I’ve got a pretty good – possibly great – fundraising idea I want to “borrow” for next year that doesn’t include food – hooray! I’ll still do food but that’s a whole lot of work for a small amount raised. This would be kind of easy once I figure it out myself. I think I am ready to piece together my newsletter and hope it goes out in paper form this year. Probably on a quiet shutdown day!
The last area Relay is this Saturday in Angola…I got to thinking if we planned better Braiden & I could hit up a lot of them throughout the season for cheap eats and fun. Relay crashing is always welcome so maybe next year.
